Joint replacement surgery can be a posi- tive, life-changing experience for those who are living with pain and difficulty in getting around. Surgery can be a big deal. But what hap- pens after your surgery is just as important. Rehabilitation is an important part of recovery after joint surgery. Regaining your strength and mobility after the surgery can mean the difference between a successful outcome or a more limited and difficult one. Care customized to meet your needs Many patients are able to go home within a day or so from their surgery. Others require some inpatient rehabilitation. If you need an extended rehab stay, our Transitional Care Program (skilled rehabilitation) may be perfect for you. We have a comprehen- sive team of therapists, nurses and health care professionals who can develop a very personal program to meet your needs and promote a healing environment. By the time of discharge, you will be moving indepen- dently and safely using the appropriate devices for assistance. This will allow you to return home safely and with confidence. If you are one of the fortunate patients who is able to go home immediately after surgery, our outpatient physical therapists are ready and able to help you get back to the life you desire. In most cases, your physical therapy will continue for several weeks after your hospital stay. Whether you transition from inpatient rehabilitation to outpatient or move right into our outpatient physical therapy pro- gram, our staff will be happy to assist you in scheduling outpatient therapy.
